The Skylar Process
At Skylar Design our process for designing and developing a great solution for you is methodical yet flexible. We take clear steps to ensure that we understand your goals and objectives as well as your customer's needs. Nonetheless, Skylar realizes that this process is one of constant adjustments. In other words, our process isn't so much linear than it is iterative; we continue to go back and forth until the "picture" is clear to us. Skylar's process for branding your company has five phases: 1) Discover, 2) Develop, 3) Design, 4) Production, & 5) Deploy/Maintain.
Discover (Phase I)
The discover phase helps us determine and define the scope of project. The Skylar Design team gathers and analyzes information. We ask a lot of questions to learn about your audience, your competitors, and your industry. At the end of this phase we will have defined and assessed your business goals, your targeted customers and their needs, and the features the website will provide your customers. This phase really sets the foundation for all other phases.
Develop (Phase II)
With the research we gather from the discover phase, the Skylar Design team moves into the develop phase: strategically developing the site structure, that is, organizing content and information so website users can find what they're looking for quickly and easily. Sometimes this can be referred to as developing the site information architecture or the site map.
Design (Phase III)
Phase III, the visual look and feel to your site, allows us to create some custom interfaces. The Skylar Design team brainstorms various concepts using different colors, layouts, and sketches. At the end of this phase, we will have designed custom templates that make up your website.
Production (Phase IV)
In the production phase, Skylar Design brings together all the elements necessary to building your website. Production integrates content, design, html, and or/Flash elements into the final site. We test the html pages, look for any technical glitches and make changes, and seek customer feedback to ensure we have met the defined goals.
Deploy/Maintain (Phase V)
Skylar Design's deploy and maintain phase is where we actually launch your website and then maintain it. Once we move out of the production phase, we go live with your website and, thus, it is accessible to anyone who has access to the Internet. Although this may seem like the end, this marks the beginning of a new phase for you and your organization.
Some clients want to maintain their sites; therefore, we pass the baton on with all the necessary information they need. However, most of our clients decide that Skylar Design maintain their site. This allows our customers to focus on what they do best and allows us to do our work--support your ongoing maintenance needs. As your customer needs change and as new technology is introduced to industry, we promise to add the latest design and functionality. Overall, we look forward to working with you.
