With the fast overthrow of the Saddam dictatorship in Iraq, not much attention
has been given in the media to the role of prayer. But I hear that prayer meetings
for the military action that was expected to last for many more weeks, if not
months, were held all over our country, and I guess probably abroad among God’s
people. This reminds me of nation-wide prayer meetings that were reported in the
New York Herald Tribune of June 7, 1944. I have a copy of the front page. This
country went to prayer as the Normandy invasion in France against the Nazi armies
began! The outcome proved to be critical in the turning of World War II in Europe.
Did prayer make a difference? Let us be alert to call upon God, not only for personal
needs, but also for our country and for God’s work in our world today.

About a month ago I held a private interview with an administrative officer at
Regent University. He told me of a marvelous miracle of healing when he was on
mission in Lagos, Nigeria several years ago. After hearing the gospel of Jesus
Christ proclaimed, a Muslim who had just come to faith in Christ approached my
friend. He wanted prayer for his granddaughter, who was standing beside him. The
little girl, maybe four or five years old, had a withered arm. My friend wondered
what he should say and continued in prayer for some time. But when he heard the
crowd around becoming excited, he opened his eyes. The little arm, which had been
about two inches long, was suddenly parallel in length with the good arm! My friend
says he thinks it was the granddaughter’s faith, who believed that Jesus
would heal his granddaughter. Does this remind us of how Jesus healed when on
earth? What a miracle!
I hope in the coming days/weeks to add more of what has come to me. It would
be good to hear response from you who should read
this page.
