Accounting Firm Get's a New Look
Huntington, NY, Nov. 02 - In August of '98, an accounting firm by the name of Zalk and Zalk created their very first website. At a time when broadband technology was just beginning to emerge and dial-up was still the most popular way to access the WWW, websites had to be simple. In an effort to keep file size to a minimum, web developers were limited in what they could do, if they were concerned about how quickly their web pages downloaded in major web browsers. In addition, because there were no web standards, developers were often tasked with coding for multiple browsers, a challenge most of us didn't care for. The more complicated the site, the more time it took to develop. As a result, if one was concerned about getting one's site to render properly in most browsers, the easiest solution was to keep it simple. In trying to reach many individuals, Zalk and Zalk kept to that philosophy.
Since then, the web has evolved and Zalk and Zalk felt this was the time to make a change. Barry D. Zalk (CPA and partner with Zalk and Zalk) shared with Skylar Design that "it was time to modernize the new website and give it a new look and feel." As part of the redesign process, Skylar created a new logo that reflected the brand of professional accounting services they provide for their existing customer base. Also, they requested that their new look be quite different than most other accounting firm websites. Where many use metaphorical imagery such as calculators, money, spreadsheets, and receipts, Zalk and Zalk wanted something quite different, something outside the corporate look and feel.
For Skylar, this was a wonderful process especially as we saw the designs evolve into the final layout. "It's one thing to create a new design; it's another thing to design something that surpasses client expectations," says Justin Agoglia, Principal/Creative Director of Skylar Design. This is a standard with every project Skylar embarks on. Overall, we feel the new Zalk and Zalk website is a fresh start to a rapidly changing society.
