Tamron USA Decides to Redesign Major Sections of It's Website
Commack, NY, Jun. 15 - In 2003, Tamron USA selected Skylar to redesign their existing website. At that time, Tamron contracted with Skylar to create new designs and develop the core templates for their team so they could complete the entire site. The project was a success and served them well for the past two years.
Since then, Tamron has grown dramatically due to client needs and industry demands. In the fall of 2005, Tamron contacted Skylar again to partner with them on yet another project. This time they wanted to redesign key sections of their website since they were slowing phasing out one of their three main divisions (Bronica). It was evident that the site architecture would have to change significantly. In collaboration with Tamron, Skylar was tasked with the challenge of creating an interface that helped their site visitors navigate through their new site, especially those already familiar with the original layout.
Another challenge Skylar had to address was creating something more visual than the previous two sites. With the original site Skylar redesigned, Tamron's research was key to how we approached that project. The data clearly indicated that a large number of their visitors still used dial-up to access the web. Thus, Skylar felt it was necessary to build a site that had good visuals, yet still loaded fast. Today, however, with more people using cable/DSL to connect to the Web, Tamron and Skylar felt the new designs should be more visually appealing. Specifically, we wanted to showcase the value of using Tamron's lenses.
In addition, we greatly enhanced Tamron's Pro Learning Center, the place where professionals can continue developing their skills as photographers. The Pro Learning Center, the area most frequently visited by photo enthusiasts, is now much more up-front and easier to get to - when the home page comes up, just click on Photographic Lenses, then on Pro Learning Center, and you’re there! This remarkable resource provides 12 clearly marked subject areas, each chock full of concise, authoritative advice, shooting tips, tech data, and outstanding images by top pros.
With the use of Flash technology and a dynamically-driven database, Tamron has a new way of presenting themselves as a leader in optical technology. Overall, we feel we have met Tamron's objectives. As always, we appreciate working with their team.
